At that point, the only "fix" is to reboot the laptop. It periodically behaves like is has absolutely no wifi adapter hardware installed at all. I will say that it is only this laptop that has trouble seeing the WIFI networks in the house, and it's not that it has trouble connecting to them. I don't really have a way to test the interference levels. WiFi channel is experiencing interference, I'll give it a shot if really necessary, but it would make things a bit difficult for my wife to do lessons with the kids during the day. I have an ethernet card but i do not have an ethernet connection upstairs where this laptop is used almost exclusively so it is slightly impractical to test this arrangement. Have you tested to see if any problems occur just using Ethernet? DUAL BAND WIRELESS AC 3165 ADAPTOR IS EXPERIANCING DRIVERSI have installed all the updated drivers directly from Intel and MSI. In addition press the win + x keys together, select powershell (admin) from the options.Ĭopy each of these cmd's separately, right click in the powershell window the cmd will append to the prompt, press enter.įour notepad outputs will be produced, please copy and paste these into your reply. Now restart your computer, test connection now. Now restart the router, wait until it has acquired all connections (led lights). Next do the same for the Router, removing mains and holding the power button. Turn off computer and remove battery, disconnect from mains power and press and hold the power button, to drain all residual power.Leave computer off. Sometimes the router and the adapter lose their handshake, we use what is known as a power cycle for this, actually you should do this whenever a problem occurs, or at least every two months. See if your WiFi channel is experiencing interference, check what channel other machines are using, you can change channels in the router. I note you have an Ethernet card have you tested to see if any problems occur just using Ethernet? DUAL BAND WIRELESS AC 3165 ADAPTOR IS EXPERIANCING UPDATEHi, have you updated the drivers from Intel OR the MSI site for your WiFi card? Do not use windows driver update (ie device manager). ![]() Thank you.Įdited by cpeisher, 31 August 2018 - 07:13 AM. It's not the end of the world, but it is an annoying issue that has been difficult for me to diagnose. If suggested by others i can disable this check box as well, but i just realized this as i was typing a small edit to this post, so i didn't want to change that setting unless suggested to do so.Īny help you can provide would be much appreciated. I do have an entry in the device manager under network devices for "Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller #2" for which the "Allow windows to turn off this device to save power" is ENABLED, but i am not sure if that affects the wireless. Under Power Management for this network adapter in Device Manager the box was previously checked to allow windows to turn the device off, but weeks ago i unchecked this box, and the issues still occurs several times per week. ![]() My network adapter is the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-3165 #2. I have search for the resolution to this issue and the only relevant information i can find is to uncheck the box under the wifi adapter which allows windows to "turn off this device to save power". ![]() The only fix i have found is to restart the computer, at which point the laptop instantly connects to the wifi network. I attempt troubleshooting the network adapter directly by right clicking on this icon but it can detect no problems. When i go to network and internet settings, and click on change adapter settings the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-3165 #2 is listed, in color, is enabled and i can click on properties etc, but has a red x displayed over the lower left corner of the icon. Seemingly, the troubleshooter simply has no idea that i have a wireless network adapter installed. ![]() Clicking on network troubleshooter only prompts for me to plug in a network cable and find no other items to suggest a fix. Even toggling airplane mode on and off does not fix it. When i click on the network symbol, it will simply show the toggle for Airplane Mode (which will be off), and no available wireless networks. Randomly, but sometimes not for days at a time, my MSI gamaing laptop will wake from sleep, screensaver, or hibernation and instead of instantly reconnecting to my secure home wifi network, it will only show a red X over the wifi symbol in the system tray.
